Man, oh man I miss Hawaii! There is just something alluring about being there. Is it the beautiful beaches? Or maybe its the delicious food. On second thought, I think the people and good vibes – that “Aloha Spirit” – is the real reason why I’m luvin’ the HI lyf so much. Actually, my love for Hawaii encompasses all these things.

There is no other place in the world that I have been to that seems to slow down the pace of life. Back here on the mainland, everyone seems to be so busy. Busy. Busy. We all work so hard to get paid, but in the end, are we really happy? We are stuck in a rat race that seems to never end. Don’t get me wrong. I’m part of the busy business world, too. And without work, I really wouldn’t be able to enjoy the paradise that is Hawaii. Why? Well, the obvious reason is that I get paid. But more importantly, how can you tell what really makes your paradise if you have nothing else to compare it to? But I digress.

Like to many others; Hawaii is such a beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable place for me. But it wasn’t always that way. The first time I went to Hawaii seemed more like a natural disaster than a tropical getaway and there are thoughts that I don’t want to re-play in my head. So, you are just going to have to trust me when I say that I did NOT enjoy myself that first time.

It was not until I met up with the one that I “Love for Life,” that the essence of Hawaii revealed itself to me. I am firm believer that when people have experiences with one another, it brings those people closer together. Whether it be family bonding, friendships, or relationships – the life that we experience together brings us close. And for the first time in my life, I got to enjoy Hawaii for all of its splendor. I still remember the first time we went swimming, our first fancy restaurant, getting tipsy in the afternoon and walking down Kalakua St., going snorkeling, hiking and finding out she’s not scared of heights (“Thank God because one of us has to be brave!”), staying at the beach until sunset, living like a local (kama ‘aina, anyone?) , making good friends, and my sexy hunny in a sexy bikini, the list goes on and on. My point is, these experiences have brought us closer together and these are just some of the reasons why I love Hawaii so much.

Taking a break from the Ocean.

Over at the Sandbar. Gorgeous.
I hope that Hawaii will be a part of our lives forever, because its already in my heart. We already go through life so fast, its good to slow things down a little…ya?
