A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake Redux

Freddie Krueger

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…

Three, four, better lock your door…

Five, six, grab your crucifix

Seven, eight, gonna stay up late

Freddie Krueger is BAAACK in the 2010 remake of the 80′s Horror movie series and popular cult classic – A Nightmare on Elm Street.

via Daily News:

This Krueger, played by Jackie Earle Haley of “Little Children,” has a face that’s even more disfigured, a blade-laden glove that’s sharper and a back story that’s bound to draw more sympathy than Freddy ever did in the 1984 original.

Krueger’s mug may be new and improved, but there will be some familiar faces in this remake.

Kellan Lutz of “Twilight” fame has a spot on Elm St., as does Katie Cassidy, one of the stars of the new “Melrose Place.”

After watching the trailer (see it after the break), I’m still a bit iffy. I mean, I get why you would want to remake it. Success in the past sometimes translates to another success (see. Transformers). However, things were different back then. The original films Special FX were organic. Computer graphics, not yet at its full potential. God-forbid, I hope the 2010 remake isn’t all about the CG. The only “remake” I’m willing to accept from A Nightmare on Elm Street at this point is a remake my Cousin R had done. The iconic “glove.” A homemade glove modelled after Freddie Krueger’s. His re-creation consisted of a brown glove embedded with a rusted-looking copper plate, topped off with metal letter openers – sharpened to a T. Now that, is how an Elm Street remake should be done. Beyond that, the originals IMHO, shouldn’t be remade. Time to think of something new and something fresh. Something original. Besides, how are you gonna replace Robert Englund?!? Guess the only solution to that is check out the film, and trailer after the break.
