Sekai Camera (Sekai in English means “World“) is an Apple iPhone app/service that allows you to place air tags and fotos in any location around the World. From restaurant reviews, instant messages, social commentary – any tag you can think of will appear floating about in front of you and your iPhone, in an Augmented Reality (AR).
Tonchidot explains Sekai Camera:
Sekai Camera is a social networking application allowing communication by way of digital Post-It tags into the air space called the real Augmented Reality.
With Augmented Reality technology, space will be converted into a real clickable World.
This app utilizes most of the technologies that the iPhone has to offer – namely, the camera, GPS, internet connectivity and the mic.
Like most iPhone Apps, it will ask for your location upon boot-up to pinpoint your current location. From there, you can either look over people’s tags – notes, comments, reviews, videos, etc… Or, create your own and plug yourself IN to the Matrix. Want to see Sekai Camera in action? Video and my thoughts after the break.

An augmented reality w/ tags explaining the World viewable through the iPhone? Seems very promising. And good for advertisers. I just hope it doesn’t get too cluttered in there. Like social networks, do I have an option of filtering out info that I don’t want to see? Let’s hope so. Because I’d really love to see the World through other’s eyes. Just not in date-puke form.
