For many people, the movie AVATAR has been a long time coming. A few words that I’ve heard used to describe James Cameron’s latest flick: EPIC, OWNS, PWNS, STUNNING. The reviews are all over the place, both good and bad. After watching this supposed “EPIC” movie Sunday night, I just have one thought – “What the HELL did I just watch?”

Don’t get me wrong, the movie starts off in a not too distant future. One in which we inhabit a new world, where humans are in Haute pursuit of a “substance” more money-making than crack. Yup. That’s right. The elusive unobtainium. At a gazillion dollars a pop, who wouldn’t want to get their hands on some unobtainium?!? But I digress, this review ISN’T about the plotlines, controversy, actors and actresses in teh film. Oh heia no. Like I said, you could always go here for those types of reviews. So, what’s really bursting my bubble? If you must know, its well, I’m ashamed to admit this BUT…its the World of Pandora. It’s just too, how do I put this? Too visually stunning.

One thing I can’t stand about movies is how they force the audience to enter a World that’s way too stunning, too visual, and way too fantastical to handle. This is especially true for Avatar. And even more true when you watch it in IMAX. Add 3D into the mix, and well, you start to understand what I’m talking about. Its an in your face tour-de-force of visual in your face visuals. I mean, really?! Did I ask for this? Did I ask for THIS?

Transporting yourself into a new world, a fantastical world called, what was it again? Pandora? Ya. If I wanted to travel I would have just flown there. I don’t need your Turoks or Mech Warriors to transport me into the wondrous illuminations of a rainforest. One in which a particular Ehwa, reveals her true beauty. Its maddening! And a lake so crystal clear you could practically drink out of it? Come on! This world is just too fantastical…can you take me back to my shack now please?
