All OS platforms – Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software product used for creating animated films, visual effects, interactive 3D applications or video games. Features include: 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, animating, match moving, camera tracking, rendering, video editing and compositing. It also features a built-in game engine. I’ll admit, you’ll have to spend a lot of time in the software to get used to its interface and figure out how to effectively use it. But once you get used to it, you’ll be ready to create some amazing 3D magic. To help, I’ve included some tutorials to get you started. For those of you looking to start or even hone your 3D-rendering skills without having to spend a lot of money (or any for that matter!) on software to learn how, this is a great way to go.
