I know, I know. I’ve handed out “You’ve Been Photo’ED” cards to all of you at SDCC 2010, and you are probably wondering when your photos (aka fotos/shashin) will be posted up. According to Wikipedia, apparel (or clothing) is characterized as: A feature of all modern human societies is the wearing of clothing, a category encompassing a wide variety of materials that cover the body. The primary purpose of clothing is functional, as a protection from the elements. Clothes also enhance safety during hazardous activities, by providing a barrier between the skin and the environment. Further, clothes provide a hygienic barrier, keeping toxins away from the body and limiting the transmission of germs..

So simple. So basic. So primitive. Makes you re-think the whole idea of wearing clothes, no? If thats the case, then what about all the style aficionados and fashionistas that rely on clothes to define one’s lifestyle? I’m sure I’ve heard the words, “clothes do make the (wo)man,” somewhere before. That saying didn’t come out of thin air, it had to come from somewhere. So what gives? Is clothing really that practical? And what about all those CosPlayers?!?

We all wear clothes for numerous reasons: for style, to be in-fashion, to pay homage to our passions, to express our individuality, to show unity, the list is endless. And actually, we can argue all day over why we wear clothing, but for the sake of maintaining some blog-order (arguing is futile, really) let’s not.

Besides, I wanted to tell ya’ll that the season is ripe. Ripe for Tradeshows, E(XPO)‘s and Conventions. What does that mean? Well, we’re making the rounds to as many Social events (see Social Events) as possible, and we wanted to meet YOU! Yes, YOU! But how on Earth do you sift us out from the sea of people who attend all the Social Events?

Now aren’t you happy we have clothes to wear??? Yup, that’s right! We are doing are daumn-dest to make it easier for YOU to spot us in the crowd by wearing Edopeno Apparel. Above is the latest creation:

Tokyo Edo! [Available NOW!]

The Edo period, translated as 江戸時代 in Japanese, is known as the beginning of the early modern period of Japan.

Above is an illustration I created using Adobe® Ideas on the iPad. My namesake, Ed is written in the Japanese character set Kanji as Edo: translated 江戸.

Over a decade ago (Good Gaude), I had asked my Japanese tutor to suggest how I should write my name in Kanji.

Edo: translated 江戸 is what she gave me.

The rest, as they say, is history…

On a recent trip to Japan w/ HNY, I came across a trend that I thought was only exclusive to the artistic movers (aka dancers) on So You Think You Can Dance. Whats the TrendSpot? Its the, what I’ll call, the Very Low V-Neck Shirt. Although the low v-neck look was first thought to be stylish in women and dancers, men are starting to sport the cleavage chest revealing V-Neck. For women, its considered stylish. But for men? It is stylish, but is it masculine enough? That may not matter as the trend has sinced moved from the dance studio – to all over Europe and Japan.

Which leaves me wondering if this Extremely Low V-Neck Shirt trend will hit US mainstream. The style has already been seen in S. Korean pop culture via Wheesung, so it may only be a matter of time before we see it here in the States. Or, maybe its here already. Again, have you ever seen an episode of So You Think You Can Dance?

I’ve put on a couple of these Very Low V-Neck Shirts in hopes that I could pull off the style, but alas, I came to the conclusion that it probably looks better on a skinnier guy. Or, so HNY tells me. Good thing I’m working out like hell! Then I can revisit the Very Low V-Neck Shirt Trend, or quite possibly, a style on the way? We’ll see. In the meantime, I’ll just put the shirt underneath.
