Don’t let this little block fool you. Hidden inside this unassuming block is technology that allows you to control your computer automagically. With no mouse. No keyboard.
Based in San Francisco, Leap Motion is a motion-control software and hardware company that is developing some of the world’s most powerful and sensitive 3D motion-control and motion-sensing technology. The idea is simple: to control your computer using the most natural controller of all – your hands. This is accomplished by the Leap Motion sensors, we’ll call it magic, that captures your hand-gesture in three dimensions with your natural hand and finger movements, and translates it into mouse-like maneuvering in your computer. It’s like you’re grabbing your computer. From the inside. In theory, this thing looks phenomenal. However, it still remains to been whether the Leap Motion is more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a keyboard and more sensitive than a touchscreen or not. Fortunately, at a street price of ($80), I’m willing to see what all the hype is about. The Leap Motion works on Windows Vista/7/8 and Mac OS X.
