Pebble is an infinitely customizable watch with custom downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps. The Pebble is water-resistant and connects to your iPhone and Android smartphones via Bluetooth. The Pebble also alerts you with a silent vibration whenever you receive incoming calls, emails and messages. And did we mention that it can tell time too?
The Pebble will go down in history as one of the most successful campaigns on Kickstarter. And for good reason. The Pebble’s appeal rely mainly on its ability to use Apps. After all, Apps bring Pebble to life. Cyclists can use Pebble as a bike computer, accessing the GPS on your smartphone to display speed, distance and pace data. Runners get a similar set of data displayed on their wrist. Use the music control app to play, pause or skip tracks on your phone with the touch of a button. With more are Apps being developed, you can get that the Pebble watch will be very useful at catering to your personal daily App needs.
The Pebble comes in 5 colors: Red, White (!), Black, Gray, and Orange. Street price is ($150) and is available for pre-order here. There is one caveat – a release date has yet to be determined. I know this because (full disclaimer) I am a backer of this project and I’ve been religiously reading the updates and am anxiously waiting for them to announce when the Pebble will be released. In the meantime, the latest update brings some pretty epic news: the Pebble will now able to display incoming SMS and iMessage notifications from connected iOS 6 devices:
That is fan-frikkin-tastic! Can’t wait to get this Pebble watch in my hands and onto my wrist. Now if they’ll just hurry up!
