San Diego Comic-Con. Undoubtedly one of the most mind-blowing conventions in the World. The ultimate Mecca for the masses to celebrate the largest comic book and popular arts convention in the World! A HUGE part of the SDCC aura is the Community that lies within, and in this Edition, we’ll be talking about: the Booth Babes.
Oh, the Booth Babe, otherwise known as the “promotional model,” is a person hired to drive consumer demand for a product, service, brand, or concept by directly interacting with potential consumers.. The purpose the promotional model serves at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 is quite simple: to draw you in with the SEX. And we LOVE it! Whenever I see promotional models posing in front of a “booth” or vendor table, a force of gravity pulls me in closer to check out whatever it is they are selling.
So what’s so alluring about the Booth Babe? I don’t know quite exactly, but it appears that whenever I see one in front of a “booth” or vendor site, I’m drawn to go towards it like a siren song I would hear while sailing in the ocean. Or, like a comic “drawn” on paper. Whatever it is, the Booth Babe seems to attract every Con-goer to whatever it is these BB‘s are slangin’. Does it work? You betcha. Sex sells and it’ll continue to be that way every year. Just a word of advice though, ok? Be nice to the Booth Babes. And although we’ll sometimes fall prey to the sex-illusion, you know – you don’t HAVE to buy everything they sell.
