Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Based on the bestselling novel by Matthew Quick, written and directed by David O. Russell, Silver Linings Playbook – a story of Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) a man that has lost everything. He finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months in a loony bin. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, and reconnect with his wife. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), an alluring girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. What were my thoughts on the film? Let’s find out:
Overall, what did you think?
The story is well-written. The ensemble cast was phenomenal. And Silver Linings Playbook is a magnificent film to watch. Bradley Cooper delivers one of his best performances-to-date playing Pat, making me believe his condition was real even though I knew he was just acting the part. He’s come a long way since his break-out role in The Hangover movies, and even a longer way since his humble beginnings at Treks in a Wild World. And I would just like to add that Jennifer Stewart is HOT (see images below)! You may remember her best as Katniss in the Hunger Games and, more recently, the winner of Best Actress at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Robert DeNiro, Jacki Weaver, and Chris Tucker also deliver stellar performances that make this film, overall, really enjoyable to watch.
On a scale of 1-5, how would you rate this film?
5 out of 5!. This film made me laugh, made me cry, and made me want to strangle the hell out of Pat and the rest of his family. In a good way, though.
Was the story clear?
You bet. The character development in this film is fantastic and the story was told clearly enough for anyone to understand.
Did you identify with any of the characters?
I’d like to say that I identify most with Pat, but that may lead to more questions from others about my sanity (or lack thereof). So… Oh hey, look! Jennifer Stewart is HOT…
Did it remind you of any other film?
This film was refreshingly original.
Who would you recommend this film to?
This is a pretty heavy film that will uplift you in the end. So, if you like that sort of thing, then you’ll really enJoi this film.
